Excitement buzzed through the Marcelo Fernan Cebu Press Center as students, parents, and teachers gathered to witness an inspiring and one-of-a-kind school play: The LINKER Podcast Show. Presented by Childlink Learning Center, this yearโs production transformed the venue into a vibrant, living podcast studio where the voices of youth took center stage.
Staged in a creative podcast-in-performance format, The LINKER Podcast Show offered more than just entertainmentโit gave its young cast a platform to share stories that matter. With five pairs of high school students acting as podcast hosts, the play unfolded in segments, each one triggered by a heartfelt call or message from a younger student. These moments sparked candid conversations, moving musical numbers, and performances that tackled real-life topics with sincerity and optimism.
From themes of growing pains to climate change, the play covered a spectrum of emotions and experiences:
Maxine, a kindergartener adjusting to life as a big sister, learned how art, laughter, and stories can help her reconnect and feel seen.
Leon, a second-grader troubled by the climate crisis, was empowered to believe that small steps and community action can spark real change.
An anonymous student found strength in a message about self-worth and the importance of finding support in the face of bullying.
Nick, a fifth grader navigating the beginnings of a childhood crush, received guidance on self-awareness and patience.
And in a poignant finale, Brett, a graduating senior, was reminded that itโs perfectly okay not to have all the answers about the future.
Interwoven through the narrative were stirring musical performances, including renditions of โIt Is What It Is,โ โBrave,โ โI Lived,โ โBestie,โ and โHigh Hopes.โ Each song deepened the emotional impact of its scene, brought to life by a talented ensemble of singers, dancers, and soloists. The show closed with a full-cast performance of โIโll Stand by Youโ, leaving the audience teary-eyed and inspired.
At its heart, The LINKER Podcast Show celebrated the Childlink communityโs commitment to empathy, courage, creativity, and unity. โNo one has to go through lifeโs challenges alone,โ one student host shared during the show. โWe figure it out together.โ
Indeed, with this innovative and heartfelt production, staged at the Marcelo Fernan Center, Childlink Learning Center once again proved that when young voices are given the stageโbeautiful things happen.
